For men, the net stands at 2.43 m: to counter and attack at this height, the men's shoes on this page focus on jump cushioning and foot support, with a large majority designed for indoor play on wooden courts.

Low or high versions, adult and junior sizes, jump or defensive indoor shoes: it's up to you to filter based on your position.

The position before the brand

Choosing an indoor volley shoe starts with asking how you play. A central or a spiker, who jumps on most points, looks for a solid push-off from the front of the foot. A setter, who is active in all movements, needs a well-supported foot. A libero or receiver, who defends in a low position, requires a wide base and a sole that grips laterally.

Low, Mid or high-top

In volley, most players opt for a low-top shoe to keep their ankle mobile and have a lightweight option. The Mid version rises to the ankle and provides support when you come down from a block. High-top models wrap the ankle more tightly. Your history of sprains and personal preference will determine your choice.

A sole that doesn’t mark the floor

All the indoor shoes on this page have a non-marking sole, which is required in most gyms. It only grips well if it stays clean: reserve your pair for the gym and wipe the sole if the floor is dusty. A running shoe, on the other hand, slips on the floor and can leave marks.

Top brands for volleyball players

  • Asics contrasts the Sky Elite FF, a jumping shoe, with the Netburner Ballistic FF, equipped with the Speedtruss system for quick movements.

  • adidas responds with the Crazyflight, its volley shoe, available in low or Mid top.
  • Hummel brings the Topflight Pro, an indoor court shoe.
  • Joma completes the selection with a few indoor court shoes.

Frequently asked questions

What shoe size should I take for indoor if I have large feet?

Measure your foot in the evening and compare the length to the size guide on the product page, as sizing can vary between brands. Larger sizes are not available in all colors: check all colors of a model before changing shoes.

Low-top or Mid for a central player?

The central jumps at every rally: the low-top shoe lightens the shoe, while the Mid provides more ankle support. If you’ve had a sprain before, try the Mid before deciding.

Should I choose a half size up?

Not necessarily. Some models run small, like the Hyperace for which Nike recommends going half a size up. Read the product details before making a choice.

What’s the difference between a jumping indoor shoe and a stability indoor shoe?

A jumping indoor shoe places cushioning at the front of the foot to absorb repeated jumps. A stability indoor shoe focuses on grip and lateral supports for movements and direction changes. In competition, choose according to your position.

How can I remove marks from white indoor shoes?

Scrub the upper with a soft brush dipped in soapy water, then rinse with a cloth. A white eraser can remove marks on the reinforcements. The washing machine, however, damages the bonds.
